Partnership will focus on developing RFID solutions

UK telecoms provider BT has signed up to a Global Innovation Partnership with Deutsche Post DHL.

Under the terms of the agreement, BT will support the DHL Solutions & Innovations unit, which is responsible for all the group’s research projects to foster innovation and develop new logistics services.

The partners have identified a number of areas for joint research and development, including radio frequency identification (RFID) and security solutions for the supply chain and green and sustainable logistics.

As part of the programme, BT will have access to the DHL Innovation Centre to develop, test and showcase new solutions.

One of the key areas of development is RFID, they said. RFID can provide visibility of goods, giving the customer the information required to manage the movement of goods through today’s lean, globalised and increasingly complex supply chains.
